The McLarty Treasure Museum is a great little museum that paints the story of the ill-fated 1715 fleet of eleven Spanish galleon ships laden with gold, silver, copper and riches as they were heading back to Spain. All eleven ships sank close to shore in a hurricane.

In the early 1960’s, the wrecks were rediscovered and salvage operations recommenced. Modern salvaging techniques have yielded new discoveries that continue into the present. The McLarty Treasure Museum is dedicated to telling the continuing story of the 1715 Spanish Plate Fleet.
