What is the use of L298?
What is the use of L298?
L298N Driver The L298N is a dual H-Bridge motor driver which allows speed and direction control of two DC motors at the same time. The module can drive DC motors that have voltages between 5 and 35V, with a peak current up to 2A.
What is L298 module?
This L298N Motor Driver Module is a high power motor driver module for driving DC and Stepper Motors. This module consists of an L298 motor driver IC and a 78M05 5V regulator. L298N Module can control up to 4 DC motors, or 2 DC motors with directional and speed control.
How do you use the L298 motor driver module?
The row of pins on the bottom right of the L298N control the speed and direction of the motors. IN1 and IN2 control the direction of the motor connected to OUT1 and OUT2. IN3 and IN4 control the direction of the motor connected to OUT3 and OUT4. Here I plugged them into pins 2, 3, 4, and 5 on the Arduino.
What is the difference between L293 and L298?
L293 is a quadruple motor driver that uses a half-H driver while L298 is a dual full-H driver, i.e, in L293 all four input-output lines are independent while in L298, a half-H driver cannot be used independently, only a full H driver has to be used.
What is the output voltage of L298N?
Product Information
Manufacturer Part No | L298N |
---|---|
No. of Outputs: | 4Outputs |
Output Current: | 2A |
Output Voltage: | 46V |
Driver Case Style: | Multiwatt |
Can I use L293D instead of L298?
No. Drive voltage or the external voltage required to run the DC motor can be anywhere between 4.5V to 36V for L293D whereas between 5V to 46V for L298N. The maximum output current through one channel of L293D is 600mA whereas L298N Motor Driver can give up to 2A from both channels.
How does L298N control motor speed?
Control DC motors with the L298N
- If you send a HIGH signal to the enable 1 pin, motor A is ready to be controlled and at the maximum speed;
- If you send a LOW signal to the enable 1 pin, motor A turns off;
- If you send a PWM signal, you can control the speed of the motor. The motor speed is proportional to the duty cycle.
What is H-Bridge circuit?
The H-bridge is an electronic circuit that looks like the letter H. An H-bridge is used to drive a load, such as a brushed DC motor, in both directions. And it controls the flow of current to a load.
