Why is Holland Tunnel closed?
Holland Tunnel: On Sunday, June 5, from 11 p.m. through 5 a.m. the following morning, and on multiple overnights through fall 2022, the New York-bound tube of the Holland Tunnel will be closed due to ongoing Superstorm Sandy-related repairs. The New Jersey-bound tube remains open at all times during work.
Why is the Verrazano bridge closed?
The closures will allow workers to replace the bridge’s original bearings. The effort is part of the $145 million renovation the MTA is making to the bridge, replacing much of its original concrete deck and barriers with more durable concrete and a better steel support structure.
