What is a Pectinia coral?
Pectinia Coral Care Pectinia, or Antler coral, grow in a combination of pillar and plating structures. This unique growth pattern gives this coral a very elegant look. In the past only drab colored specimens made it into the marketplace. Today many colorful varieties are available.
How fast does Space Invader Pectinia grow?
This particular cultivar is known as the Space Invader Pectinia. It does not demand extensive expertise or exacting parameters to grow and thrive. The specimen shown here started as a tiny seed fragment and has grown into a 3-inch mini colony in less than a year.
How do you care for Favia coral?
Favia coral do not have to be fed but feeding will help speed the growth of this live coral. Favia corals can catch food particles in the aquarium when their tentacles are out and this is also the best time to feed the coral if desired. Most meaty fish foods like krill, mysis, and brine shrimp will work.
Are Favia coral hard to keep?
Beautiful, hardy, and relatively inexpensive, the Favia coral is hard to beat. Just give them the right conditions, feed them a couple of times each week and you will be rewarded with an attractive, long-lived tankmate. Just be sure to give them enough room to grow and stay out of skirmishes with their neighbors.

Some Favias only grow millimeters per year. I’ve had one for 5 years and it’s only slightly bigger but more round. I have another (war coral) that grows fast. It’s grown down and onto the glass in only a few years.

Yes, they can sting each other. The key is to try to keep the same species near each other. In my experience, it’s not just the sweepers that can do damage.
