You can earn status by flying and spending enough within a single calendar year, and once earned you’ll keep it through the following calendar year. So if you earn Gold status in July 2022, you’ll keep it through the end of 2023. If you’re just short of reaching status before the end of the year, well, tough luck.
Does Delta Silver Medallion expire?
Silver Medallion status does expire if you do not meet the required amount of flying and spend. That said, each year, you can roll over the EQMs earned beyond status to the next year so it can count for the next year’s elite status.

How many MQDs is a diamond?
Diamond status requires 125,000 MQMs and either $15,000 MQDs (actual spend on Delta flights) or a MQD waiver from spending $250K across Delta credit cards. You’ll get both the MQD waiver and more than enough MQMs from your annual $340K spend in order to earn Diamond status each year.

Can I get into Delta Sky Club with silver medallion?
Being a Silver Medallion does not grant you access to any lounge. To get access to Delta Sky Clubs or partner airline lounges you will have to be a Gold Medallion or above flying on international itineraries. If you are a SkyTeam Elite Plus member, you will have access to Sky Clubs on international itineraries.
