In snowy conditions, it is possible to climb to the summit and back down without seeing another soul along the trail. The Glen Alpine Trail is the longer of the main trails to the summit of Mount Tallac (about a mile longer than the Summer Trail), but it has the most gradual grade of the main winter approaches.
Are dogs allowed on Mt Tallac?
This trail is rocky and very steep, and often covered in snow even when the trail below is not. I would not recommend the hike to the summit unless you and your dog are in excellent shape. However, even if you do not make it to the summit, the trails below are well worth the hike.
