Eight is good because on most eight voice polysynths you can layer two sounds together and still have four note polyphony. Sometimes less is more…but here…. 8 will always be better than 6… However…

4 voices is limiting and requires some creativity to work around the restriction. I’d primarily use a low-voice poly for simple chord lines, or stacked in unison, but it really depends what it is. I have a similar set-up but with a total of 5 Evolver voices.
