This video was taken at the Aviarios Del Caribe sloth sanctuary in Costa Rica where Wednesdays are “bath days.” These aren’t your regular run-of-the-mill baths either. The babies get shampooed and then they soak in a tea leaf mixture to prevent parasites. It’s basically a day at the sloth spa.

They are easy to deal with it, because they don’t try to run away and due to their slow movements, are easy to keep an eye on. They love soft toys and won’t ever let go of their possession, even while sleeping.

No, you cannot hold sloths. They have found through research that sloths go through great distress if held or touched by strangers. The staff will hold them and bring them close to you but you cannot touch or hold them.
