Does RISD require freshmen to live on campus?

First year students and transfer students are required to live on campus. Living on campus during your Foundation and/or transfer year provides ample opportunity to meet new people, explore classwork together, and transition to the RISD community.

Are RISD dorms coed?

Staff, residence advisors and advocates of inclusion in residence (AIRs) offer dedicated support in all facets of residence life. Housing is gender-inclusive, accommodates many lifestyle preferences and aims to meet the needs of art and design students.

The majority of RISD Graduate students live off-campus, often in apartments close by campus, including Charles Landing (see below).

Restricted animals include dogs, cats, caged rabbits, caged rodents, caged birds, and terrarium reptiles. Other animals may be considered on a case-by-case basis. All animals must meet standard veterinary health and immunization requirements and must be in compliance with local laws and ordinances.
