Affiliation Procedure
- The school must apply in writing to the THIMUN office with documentation and prospectus of the school and conference.
- Once an affiliation visit is considered, THIMUN must receive copies of all documentation related to the MUN Conference, e.g. mailings.

Mir Mahmood
MUN travelled across the Atlantic Ocean at the same time as Mir Mahmood, President of the first Oxford International Assembly, travelled to Harvard in 1922. In response to his visit, the Harvard Liberal Club created the first American International Assembly in 1923, launching Model UN in the USA.
What is un4mun?
It is a program introduced by the United Nations Department of Global Communications in 2009 with an intention to bring Model UN simulations closer to how the real UN functions.
Is MUN certificate useful?
Yes, you do receive a certificate of participating after participating in a MUN. The certificate recognises your efforts in participating in the conference. In case you win, you are also awarded a certificate of excellence in recognition of your efforts.

Model UN looks great on your high school résumé and college applications. If you’re a delegate, you may have won a few awards, which show off your ability to communicate well in writing, compromise with others, and speak eloquently.

The THIMUN Board and Office members will decide the winner of the Best Creative Piece Award. Furthermore, anyone can be the winner of the People’s Choice Award, which will go to the creative piece receiving the most votes from the THIMUN 2021 participants!

Model UN offers you skills you wouldn’t otherwise gain in a high school setting and gives a great opportunity to display these skills when applying to colleges. Students that participate in Model UN become global students with the leadership and communication skills that colleges are looking for.

Model UN participants compete in Model UN conferences with teams from other schools. Preparing for competition involves research and role-playing.
