On Windows: go to your User(s) folder – the one that has My Music, My Pictures, and so on. Now follow this path: My Documents > Icewind Dale – Enhanced Edition. That’s where you must create your Portraits folder. Mac OSX: create a folder named “Portraits” on /Users//Documents/Icewind Dale – Enhanced Edition.

You need to create a new folder called “Portraits” and save your new portrait bitmaps in there. The portrait sizes are bigger for IWD2 though, so you can’t just use the same ones from IWD1. The IWD2 readme has instructions for image size, filename, and color mode (8-bit and 24-bit color iirc). GIMP can do all that.
