What is DC 315?
What is DC 315?
DC315 is a single component, water based intumescent coating tested to meet Building Code requirements for the fire protection of for Spray Polyurethane Foam (SPF). Tested and evaluated in the USA by UL and ICC-ES, and in Canada by ULC and CCMC.
Can you paint DC 315?
What’s more, intumescent paint applications have been verified as safe in IFTI DC315 evaluation reports. That means using intumescent paint will not affect the performance of DC315, and you can expect code-compliant levels of fire resistance.
Who makes DC 315?
International Fireproof Technology Inc.
Complete Firestop Systems, Intumescent Coatings and Fire Retardant Paint. International Fireproof Technology Inc. (IFTI) is the manufacturer of the industry leading DC315 intumescent coating 15-minute alternative Thermal barrier and Ignition barrier fire protection of spray foam insulation.
How much water should be added to DC315 to thin the product?
Thinning is usually not needed. If DC315 has been exposed to high heat, water may evaporate from the plastic 5-gallon container. If the paint level is below 3 inches from the top of the container, continue to mix and SLOWLY add just enough water to restore a sprayable consistency.
What is intumescent coating?
One type of functional coating is a fire-retardant variety (also known as an intumescent coating) to insulate steel substrates exposed to fire.
Is Sherwin Williams paint fire rated?
Sherwin-Williams suppled both the passive fire protection and anti-corrosion coating systems – delivering 20 years’ external corrosion protection, and up-to 120 minutes’ fire protection.
Can you paint over spray fireproofing?
The paint should be applied over the material with the minimum amount required so as to avoid saturating the material. UL has approved this application of painting SFRMs and confirms that it will not adversely affect the fire resistance rating.
Is there a fire retardant paint?
Flame Control Fire Retardant Paints are decorative, protective coatings designed to reduce the spread of flames in the event of fire. These coatings have the appearance of traditional paints and varnishes, comply with building and fire codes, and give the substrate rated flame spread protection.
Can you roll on intumescent paint?
Some intumescent paint is just like regular paint and can be applied using a sprayer, a brush or roller.
How thick is intumescent paint?
30 to 500 mils
The effectiveness of an intumescent fire resistive coating depends on the coating thickness and its ability to retain the ash layer. Coating thickness typically ranges from 30 to 500 mils (0.8 to 13 mm).
Can you paint over intumescent coating?
The short answer is yes, you can paint over it.
