Gazyva™ is the trade name for the generic chemotherapy drug obinutuzumab. In some cases, health care professionals may use the generic name obinutuzumab when referring to the trade name Gazyva™. Drug Type: Gazyva™ is an anti-cancer (“antineoplastic” or “cytotoxic”) chemotherapy drug.

Is GAZYVA a chemo drug?

GAZYVA® (obinutuzumab) is a prescription medicine used with the chemotherapy drug, chlorambucil, to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) in adults who have not had previous CLL treatment.

How long does GAZYVA last?

GAZYVA is given for a total of 6 cycles, or rounds of treatment. Each cycle will last 28 days. Treatment occurs only on certain days of each cycle and that is usually followed by several weeks of rest and recovery. This means that most people will complete their GAZYVA treatment in about 6 months.

What is GAZYVA infusion?

GAZYVA works to break down cancer cells quickly. As cancer cells break apart, their contents are released into the blood. These contents may cause damage to organs and the heart and may lead to kidney failure requiring the need for dialysis treatment. Your doctor may prescribe medication to help prevent TLS.
