6 June, 2017 13 August, 2020 Peter Breen. The Galway SPCA is a charity based in Galway with a cattery in Athenry and a dog sanctuary in Killimor, Co Galway. Our aim to help, rescue, rehabilitate and re-home all animals to forever homes.
How do I adopt a dog in Galway?
You can apply using our Cat Adoption Application Form, our Dog Application Form or our Exotic Animal Adoption Form. Home-checks apply for all Adoptions and you must be over 18 to apply. Successful applicants will be contacted within approximately 14 days.
How much does it cost to adopt a dog in Ireland?
How much does it cost to rehome? Our adoption fee is €180 for adult dogs and this fee helps us to cover the costs of caring for over 1,500 dogs every year. Our fee for adopting a puppy is €220. This includes the €180 rehoming fee and a reduced €40 online Dog School fee.

Do you have to pay for a rescue dog? While the answer is essentially no (for your chosen pooch) when it comes to the question, ‘are rescue dogs free?’ , you DO have to pay rehoming fees to the center to cover care costs. Each rescue center sets their own fees, so confirm first with your chosen center.
